OCTOBER 4. 1893.(A PARK FOUNTAIN.Mrs. Julia Raab Presents a Costly One to the Commissioner*Tho DrilgB, to Cowt fS.OOO, H»i Boon Ac ceptrd and Contracted For—The bite In the Fark Has Already Been Selected.Mrs. Julia Raab his conspicuously honored herself and the community l/I presenting to the park commissioners, as a memorial for her late hu?band. a beautiful and costly drinking fountain to be placed in the park. .Borne time ago Mrs. Raab acquaint the commissioners with her wish to , make such a contribution to the beauty and convenience of the park, and yes-' terday the contracts were made 'ilh | O. M. Rurrus for a beautiful fountain to cost *2.000, the woik to be done immediately. ^ |The fountain will rest on a mas^ nr base, octagonal In shap?, 13% feet I across, and reached by three sit p^-above the ground. On top of this will stand the fountain prop r, of iron, th:r-l teen feet high. It will hive four j t-» with cups for persons to drink from, and below will be four r «1- from which dogs may drink. Raab Memorial.The park commissioners and Mrs. Raab w nt over th park yesterday an J fixed upon a site for the new work of art. A spot on th high ground acro.-s the road east from the main entrance band stand and directly south of the large linden tree, was chosen. There are at present no p»ths on that plot of ground, but the park plan provide* f r them and. with s *me necessary alterations. they will now be laid out to g.ve access to the fountain.
