A Vehement Protest.Cincinnati, November 26wSporting Editor Tribune:You are taking the right stand in protesting against Buck Ewing as manager for the Reds. The majority do not want him, believing him incapable. Why should Cincinnati be loyal to Buck when he was never loyal to Cincinnati, always prefering a job in another city. If Magnate Brush would keep what patrons he has let him get a man of experience, not one of experiment. If it is old-time Cincinnatians he wants there is Long John Reilly, Charlie Gould and a host of others he can get that have long since been retired. George and Harry Wright are still alive. There are lots of once great players and managers that the Times-Star ahd Enquirer have overlooked, and as Cincinnati has for years been the dumping place for worn out and spavined players, they might be had for the asking. Buck Ewing’s only qualification seems to be that he is out of a job. Will the two papers who are pushing him.open an employment bureau for indigent players? If so, push it along.A Patron of the Game.
