Amherst played some multiple defenses against us and we would make one or two passes then put up a 25- to 35-foot shot.“We have some inexperience, but we expect to improve with every game, Binkley said. “Our goal is to improve with every game.”THE TWO CLUBS met three times last season with the Panthers winning ail three. The first was a shocker, as EC won a 75-57 blowout. The other two were nail-biting classics with the Panthers winning 65-62 and 64-63.While Guinta has seen progress in his troops in scrimmages, he says they are not where he wants them to be defensively or on the boards. We don’t have the stamina yet and we’re not making the transition from offense to defense quickly enough,” he said. “We’re passing well but not shooting well. You can passall you want but you have to put the ballin the basket, too.”What about the prospects of opening against West?I'd rather open with someone else, although it will make for a good game, crowd-wise,” he said.That’s for sure, if last year was any indication.
