DEATH CLAIMS A.J.SCHEUER AT CHICAGO’Alexander J. Scheuer, one of the founder# of the present Scheuer- 1 Frnkel Co., and for years one of Sandusky's leading business men, I died at noon Thursday at Chicago, 111., following an illness cf several years. He was 58 years of age.Mr. Scheuer'a business connections in Sandusky began -la-18901 when, with the late Henry J.Lehman, ho came here from Cleveland. They took over Hammond s bazaar on EL Market-st and there I established what has since become one of the leading department stores of northwestern 0£io. Mr. Lehman retired from the business | in 1911 when his health failed. He passed away in 1911. The business was then continued by A. J. Scheuer and his brother Henry J. Scheuer as the Scheuer Bros. Co, store. In 1919, Mr. A. J. Scheuer's health failed and he retired in favor of W, S. Frankel, the business then taking the name of the Seheuer-Franlcel Co.Mr. Scheuer is survived by his widow, who resides in Chicago, 111.; his daughter, Blanca, now Mrs. Arthur Wieland of Chicago; his daughter, Alice, now Mrs. Gerold Lowell of Cleveland; his brother, Henry J. Scheuer of Sandusky and * his sister, Mrs. Abra-iham LebenBburger ofH^leveland.| Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed but it is expected that temporary interment will bo rpade at Chicago, 111.
