District Court*The jury in the ease of the Kansas Vinegar company vs. i. B. Hunnicut, returned a verdict for tee defendant.A divorce was granted John T. Chevalier from his wife Melanie Chevalier, on the ground of abandonment. J. L. Dudley, colored, was also granted a divorce from hiswife Jfcirtha Dudley, on the same grounds.This rompleted the business of the day and court was adjourned until to* day at 11 a. m. At noon the grand jury made its report and adjourned. The report to the county commissioners in regard to the jail was made and appears in another column. Three indictments were returned,two of which were for selling liquor.The entire day yesteiday was taken up with the trial of the case of Mrs. Lyon vs. M. L. Moore. The plaintiff sued for $3,000 damage claimed to have been sustained by her by the failure of the defendant to fix up and put in proper) condition the property on Massachusetts street, the lower part of which is now occupied by Mr. Storm. Mrs. Lyon rented the property for the purpose of keeping a hotel, in August, 1SS3, but owing to a defective water closet and some other defects, the place was unlit for use.It was claimed on the part of the defendant that the plaintiff should have either moved out or lixed the property and charged the expense up to the leasor, and as a set off they put in a claim for the rent, asking judgment for $500, the amount for one year, less $100 paid in advance.The evidence was all in by 4 o’clock, when the judge gave his instrtetions, aud Geo. J. Barker argued the case for the plaintiff andJohn Hutchings for the defendant.
