Sutherland, who is attend-1 ing Mrs. Calvin Parrish, alias Mrs.tSamuel Bastel, who has been brought Into the limelight by reason of a charge of bigamy Tjeing lodged against her i and by further reason of the fact that j her first husband has sued her for i divorce, reported yesterday that his patient was greatly improved and that she would probably recover. The critical time came Tuesday and as she passed the crisis she will recover unless other complications set In. She is suffering from pneumonia, due to getting tip too sooq after the birth of the last child. Although the surroundings in which the woman lives are sickening. Parrish, husband No. 2, worked hard to provide for the wife and family and so they never suffered from want.Bastel, husband No. 1, came into the limelight about a year agb. when he reported to the Michigan City police the finding of the body of an infant child on the beach about two miles west of town. Officer Tiedt jour-neyed to the scene on foot and whenhe arrived he found that the “baby”Vas the carcass of a rat. What Tiedt+did to Bastel Is not recorded.
