! WNameless BabiesIncrease in CityNameless’’ babies in El Paso have become more numerous during the depression than ever before, City Registrar Alex K. PoweH revealed today.Mr. Powell explained that sometimes he receives birth certificates-with the last name of the new bom child only.Sometimes this . happens when parents are unable to decide on a first name before birth certificates filed. Birth certificates must be filed a week after a baby is born.The first name, in such cases, may be added later, if parents fill ■ out a supplementary birth certificate.Mr. Powell said he receives about 20 certificates a month now, without babies’ first names.“I don’t believe the increase is doe fco'more indecision among parents,” he said.Probably the depression causes many mothers to remain, in the hospital a shorter time after the baby is bom, and in many cases the baby is not named before the mother goes home.’ti
