It's the first of several dances being planned by Sadri and his staff prior to the beginning of the district’s summer program.Dancing will be from 8 to 11p.m. School attire is recommended.ALTHOUGH only playing together the last month, The Last Straws have already become the favorite combo of a small group of followers.Dittmer and Bluett, who play lead and rhythm guitar, are sophomore students at Prospect High School. Perrino, the drummer, is a senior at Prospect High. The two “babies” of the group are eighth gradl students, Beck at St. Raymond’s School and Hellrick at Central Junior High SchoolPaul plays a 12-string rhythm guitar while Mark brings out the deep tones of bass guitar. They are all singers.PERRINO AND Bluett were in another combo playing at a park district dance when theymet the other three and decided to form the present “quintet.” As for the name, it was the choice of all five.“We were clutching for a name and hit on the old cliche —as a last resort,” the five boys said. “Only we customized by adding the letter s.” PRIVATE parties and so-called “battle of the bands” have been their sole playing dates so far, but things could get better as their name — and their music — become known throughout the northwest suburbs.Saturday, April 1, will be one of the few times they have played before junior and senior high school students—the ones who have it in their power to push the Last Straws to future fame — or oblivion.Which it will be only time will tell.
