Beitzel, who for many years was senior warden of the parish and a faithful lay leader in the Episcopal church. The memorial is being given by his widow, Mrs. Walter G. Beitzel.A fitting memorial, the litany desk will recall that Dr. Beitzel was also a licensed lav reader lormany years. One privilege of a layreader is to conduct the litany in the absence of a priest.The litany desk is a prie-dieu, or prayer desk that is placed in the front of the nave of the church near the chancel. It is set aside especially for the officiant oflitanies, or general supplications of the congregation. N. J,, built the litany desk.It is of sturdy construction having hand carved ornamentation, unhid ing a hand-carved cross. The walnut used in the desk was secured locally and sent to the studios. Other appointments in Trinity church which are made of wood are also of native walnut.At a later date an Episcopallitany book will be placed on thedesk and kept there permanently.I)i. Beitzel died November 4 1948. He was senior warden and clerk o! the vestry as well as a lay reader at the time ot his death.
