wNew Bailey Park Nears Completion—BAILEY — Nearing completion is Bailey’s public park at the east entrance of the town, along the highway extenision of the mainstreet.The two-and-half - acre park,formerly an old cow pasture that had grown up in briers, weeds,bushes, and other growth, is on land belonging to Mrs. C. F. Bis-sette, who offered the land to the town for use as a park and playground.Supervising the work necessaryto get the land in shape for use as a park is W. R. Parsons, Baileybusinessman who has expressed interest in town improvement.Volunteer labor has contributed most of the work required. Except for the heavier work done by a bulldozer, citizens of the townand the FFA, a local farm youth group, have come in with tractors,mowing machines, discs, sling blades, rakes, and drags to cut, haul off, and burn the rubbish and undergrowth; to grade and levelthe area; and to cut new ditches and clean and shape others.One section of the park now' is ready for use. The entire area willsoon be completed.Mr. Parson says that he is contemplating sowing grass and getting tables, seats, and an outdoorcooking unit as early as possible.The park — to be known a the Cefare Bissette park in memory of the late C. F. Bissette -- is to be used for picnics, suppers, and a general playground.
