Man Would Quit Wife He Learns Is Negress; Colored Baby ArrivesST. LOUIS, Mo., June 15.—A suit, prepared by Attorney Charles P. Johnson for filing:, asks the annulment of the marriage of John B. Collins and Cora Glamorgan Collins, on the ground that the wife is of negro blood. The preparation of the suit has revealed the remarkable case of a negro family, members of which were in the public employ as negroes, but living in an exclusively white suburban neighborhood for years without arousing suspicion. The situation is now complicated by the marriage of a daughter of the family to the son of a white property owner, and by the recent birth of a baby girl to them.August 15 last, Cora Clamorgan, 16 years old, was married to John B. Collins, 19 years old, son of a well-known property owner of Ellendale. Six weeks ago a baby girl was born. The baby showed no trace of negro descent. But there was another baby born to the oldest Collins girl and her negro husband, which betrayed much more than either of its parents the characteristics of the African race. “Collins eloped and married my daughter without my knowledge,” said Clamorgan. “If Collins had asked my consent to his marriage with my daughter, I should have declined to let him marry.”
