A Ratty SubjectSeveral years ago when J. R. Strickland, he of the Corner Drug Store, conceived the idea of setting apart a day to be devoted to the killing of rats, it was regarded pretty much in the light of a joke. Persistent mention with statements of figures showing the immense damage done by the pests, finally got the people interested and far and near rat killing day has become a~realty aud every year thousands of them are killed. Nearly 5,000 rats were killed in Gibson county alone last Tuesday. Let the good work go on until every community in the United States shall do their part in the work of exterminating the rat.
