The classroom seating- Is expected to arrive Aug. 1, so that it can be moved directly into the rooms.To Make Many ChangesThe availability of the new high school will cause a major change in elementary school assignments. For the first time since 1947, the Main Street School will be used for elementary pupils as junior high, grades 7, 8 and 9, will be moved to the Colestock school building. Main Street will become the central grade school, housing the majority of 6th graders in the city and pupils in grades one through five in its area. The special room will be moved to Main Street from the Elm Street School.Tiie Elm Street School will have kindergarten through grade six in its area.The South Side School will also have kindergarten through grade five in its area as usual.The school board has solved one problem which will relieve the pressure on Elm Street. A year ago Sunset Heights and Drake Manor had about 30 children for kindergarten and first grade. As this would, have overloaded Elm Street, arrangements were made to transport the kindergarten children to the South Side for that year.However, there are still between 30 and 35 children from the Heights and the Manor to go to kindergarten and first grade this fall. The board has purchased two houses on North Dillon Drive, one for a kindergarten and one for a first grade.Because of the overload beginning in 1945, Colestock has housed a kindergarten and pupils in the first five grades through this spring.
