T« Start Work at OnceAnnouncement of tft»•award of another large con tract to the Manitowoc Shi] Building Corporation for i carferry for the Ann Arboi Railway company, was madlt; today when Newman Erb oj New York, president of thlt; Ann Arbor company and widely known in railroad ciz* cles, visited the city and con* firmed the report of the con*-tract to tlhe ioail yard. f Mr. Erb, who was here it his private car, the Toledo announced the awarding foi a steel, twin screw carferry, to be built at once by the shifl building corporation and said that work would be started immediately and delivery oj the boat made during th* coming winter.The new steel carferry will hi designed and built for ice break ini and will be built to carry twenty six (26) of the very largest type* of freight cars now being built. Thlt; vessel will havo passenger accsna modations and will bo built of steel throughout of the most modern con struction. The overall length 1» 360 ft., beam 5G ft., depth 21 ft. 6 in The ferry will be propelled by twi triple expansion marine engines o 1400 horsepower each, and steam -will be furnished by four boileri 11 ft. 6 in. x 11 ft, at a vurkinj pressure of 185 lbs.The new ferry will be operate* on Lake Michigan.rresident Erb was accompanies here by 13.
