to star in Alton movieJACK WARDEN photographed in his roie in the movie Heaven Con Wait.Veteran character actor Jack Warden has been signed to star in Dreamer, a movie about bowling which will be filmed in Alton during August.The movie, previously titled Stormy City Bowl, will also star Tim Matheson and Susan Blakely, and will begin filming in Alton on July 31, according to Lou Dyer of 20th Century Fox in Hollywood.Warden will star as the old bowling pro who coaches a young man (Matheson) intobecoming the national bowling champion.Dyer said Friday Dreamer will be directed by Noel Nosseck, a young director who recently finished a film in Chicago Bruce Surtees will be the cameraman on the film.Rumors had circulated for several weeks that Jimmy Stewart would star as the bowling pro, and a St. Louis newspaper had printed that Stewart was signed. Dyer said the studio had talked with Stewart, but signed Warden as soon as they learnedhe was available.Warden is currently starring in Heaven Can Wait, a Warren Beatty-Julie Christiefilm playing area theaters.Matheson was one of the stars of The Runaway Barge, a TV-movie filmed in Alton four years ago. He recently finished The Apple Dumpiing Gang for Disney Studios.Miss Blakely, a model-turned-actress, had parts in Report to the Commissioner and The Towering Inferno. She will portray M atheson's girl friend.Dyer said the film crew and cast should be arriving in Alton on July 28 and will establish headquarters at the Ramada Inn in Alton. The company will be filming at Bowl Haven and at other locations in Alton and St. Louis during August.Unlike The Runaway Barge, which moved Alton from Illinois to Arkansas, Dreamer will use the city's location and identity as part of its theme.
