MC teacher receives grantMARION CENTER - Officials of the Pennsylvania Slate Education Association awarded four innovative teaching grants to five teachers from four school districts, including Kathleen Rroskin, a first-grade teacher in the Marion Center School District, at its recent House of Delegates convention held in Pittsburgh.The winners were selected by PSEA’s Council on Instruction and Professional Development from 28 entries.Broskin's entry is titled “Reader’s Theater.” which focuses on the transition from a traditional basal reading approach to a whole-language approach emphasizing authenticreading and writing experiences as keys to literacy development.Her students learn by creating and producing puppet plays based upon their reading experiences.PSEA President Annette Palutis said, “PSEA encourages our members to be creative and innovative in their classrooms.
