John Bentinck, Jr,GALVESTONJohn Bentinck, Jr., 55,passed away on Tuesday, January 13th at Mainland Medical Center afterlosing his lifelong battle with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. John graduated from Ball High School in 1977. Heworked a few years in construction helping refurbish the HotelGalvez and was a former member of the TexasState Guard, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. John was a diehard fan ofthe Dallas Cowboys and NEVER missed a game!John was preceded in death by parents, John C. and Anita LaineBentinck. He is survived bv sister, EileenBentinck Bember (Ray),brothers Jim Bentinck(Teresa) and George Bentinck (Linda) as wellas his nephews, Robert and George Bember, Jimmy, Johnny and David Bentinck, great niece, Allie Bentinck, Chandler Bentinck and his oneand only adored niece, Summer Laine Bentinck.He also had numerousaunts, uncles and cousins.John had many people who loved and caredabout him, especially his devoted brother, George, Aunt Patsy Scroggins who Johnny spoke to every day and his loving caregiver, Sammi and friend Ronnie whohelped as well.Funeral services willbe held 1:00 PM Tuesday,January 20, 2015 at Carnes Brothers FuneralHome, Deacon RobertStandridge officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston. The family will receive visitors at thefuneral home on Tuesday beginning at 11:00 am. Pallbearers are RobertBember, George Bember, James Bentinck, Jr., John C. Bentinck, III, DavidBentinck, Chandler Bentinck, Paul Bohn andJimmy Bohn.In lieu of flowers, thefamily requests donations in Johnny’s name be made to the Snowdrop Foundation, a foundationdedicated to assisting patients and families at Texas Children’s CancerCenter through funding for continued research to eliminate childhood cancer and scholarships for college bound pediatric cancer patients and survivors.
