The point upon which they hesitated was the advisability of extending an invitatioft in the form of a resolution adopted by the Chamber. The invariable custom haa been for tbe President ofItfc6d1cfta\tbtheChambertoinvitedistinguished Ivisitors to go upon the floor. The President of the United Btatea, the Secretary of the Treasury, General Grant and other notables have becu given .the prlvllero of the Chamber in that way.
