Local BusinessmanfDonates Flame GasLocal businessman Tom StrzeszhowsM has offered to pay for a year's gas supply for the Immortal Flame Monument dedicated at the Mountain View Cemetery last Friday. The bill for the gas is thought to be in the area of $200 a year.Donations for the $4,300 monument are still short by $1,100, announced Charles CJodkburn of the Immortal Flame Committee. The monument, a Diamond Jubilee project, was sponsored by the city of Lethbridge to the amount of $3000. The rest of the money is to be received through voluntary contributions.HAVE PROBLEMMeanwhile, as the year’s gas supply is being secured, the Canadian Natural Gas Co. is currently working on a different gas control method for the flame which continues to be extinguished by the Lethbridge winds.At present there is no automatic shut-off valve to the monument which has been relit several times by passersby.A Gas Company official said it was hoped a shut-off valve would be installed by the weekend.
