Meanest Husband and Biggest Liar in the World in Rock IslandFor more than a month Mrs. Vera Gibbs, 508 Twelfth street, Rock Island, carefully filled her husband’s lunch basket and sent him olT to work, at the same time feeling a slight jiang of regret that he had to work so hard and so long.At night he came home, tired and worn looking, his race apd hands soiled heavily from his supposed strenuous labors, she said. It was the same routine, day after day. for more thjin a month. Mrs. Gibbs, however, was glad that her i\nstand. Arthur Gibbs, had at least h job. lio had been out of work for so long a time.evening. At noon he refreshed himself with the wholesome lunch fo carefullv prepared by Ids wife in the morning. Before returning homo In the evening he smeared his hands and face with grease and soot.Mrs. Gibbs protested vehemently. so Mr. Gibbs departed for Rockford. where he said he had found ii first class joh. He neglected.There was one difficulty. Mr. however, to remember his wife andGibbs' employers did not seem to pay very regularly. In fad. Mr. Gibbs brought home no pay checka tor a month, before Mrs. Gibbs decided to investigate. There is no use. said she to hpraeU. of Arthur working so hard for nothing.Then the rude awakening. Her toll-worn husband, sho found out, had no job. instead, every day he went to a billiard hall, there to play pool or read magazines untildaughter, so Mrs. Gibbs told her story to the state's attorney and entered a complafnt in Rock Island county court for non-support. Deputv Sheriff R. W. Kropp brought Mr. Gibbs back to Rock Island and the county jail Wednesday,, Saturday he was sentenced to si* months in the county jail by Judge George D. Ixmg. who said:Never have I seen or heard or such a gross Impostor.
