City Limits—We learn from yesterday's Gazette that the new City Charter extends our limits so as to include a much larger population than is awarded us by the census taker. This, without any cavil, makes Burlington much the largest town in Iowa. Its population must now be ovcraOOO— We hope when the next assessment is made the City authorities will authorize a new census to be taken. The following are the limits as furnished the Gazette:Commencing at the South-west corner of the North-west Quarter of Section Eight, Township 69 North of Range 2 west; running thence North twomiles and a quarter to the South-west corner of section 29, Township 70, North of Range 2 West thence East to the main channel of the Mississippi River, thence down said channel to a point di. rectly East of the place of beginning. Thence West to the place of beginning.The limits of the City now extend two miles and a quarter along the river, and over a mile East and West.
