Lucy Says Elijah Compelled Her toMarry Him.Lucy Mae Mutchler, formerly Lucy Mae Breedlove, has brought suit against Elijah Ragan, to annul mar riage. The complaint avers that onJanuary 24, 1910, Elijah Ragan(sometimes called and known as Elijah Mutchler) by force, threats and intimidation, caused her to enter into a certain pretended marriage contract by threatening he would do her great bodily harm unless she did enter into said marriage contracts That they had been married once before, but separated and were divorced about a year ago. The license for the enforced marriage was secured in Clinton county and the ceremony was performed in this city by Rev. J. A. Rhoades. She claims that said marriage is void for the reason that she did not at any time consent to enter into said marriage contract or to said marriage ceremony. That whatever she did do with reference to said marriage was the result of fear produced by threats of the defendant to shoot her and otherwise do Tier great bodily harm.
