Birthday Gathering For John Yenter, 80ElMr. John Yenter celebrated his 80th birthday Tuesday, December 28th. His daughter, Alice, entertained relatives at an oyster supper in hiB honor.Besides the honorees and the hostess, thoHe present were Mr. and Mrs. Milo Novuk and daughter, Margaret of Cedar Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Stratton and family and Mr. and Mrs, Harry Yenter and family.Air. John Yenter was born December 28, 1857 in a log house south of Oxford, which his father built, shortly after locating here in 1849 from Germany.In 1864 when he was seven years old, he with his brothers and sisters, accompanied his parents, Mr. and Mrs, Jacob Yenter to Virginia City, Nev. The trip was made overland in a covered wagon.The family resided there for nearly three years, when they moved to Rocklund, California. After two years in California, they returned to Virginia City and remained for 3 years. Shortly after the death of the father in August, 1872, the family returned to Johnson county.In 1892 John Yenter was married toMiss Lydia Yenter, who passed away in April, 1929.Mr. Yenter has four children, Mrs. Milo Novak of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Milo Stratton, Miss Alice Yenter and Mr. Ilarry Yenter, all of Oxford, also two brothers, George Yenter of Oxford and Clarence of Idaho, and one Bister, Aliss Nelle Yenter of West Liberty.Seven years ago, Mr. Yenter turned over the responsibilities of the farm to his son, Harry, retired and came to Oxford, where he resides with his daughter.
