Wempea*Lowe nuptials.Qiite a surprise was sprung: Wednes-evenlng by the marriage of Mr. Harry Werapen, son of Mr. John Wempen of Washington street, and Miss Sadie Lowe, eldest daughter of Mr. and Sirs. W. W. Lowe, of Upper Alton. It was known to the frieDds of the young peo-people that they had been keeping company for some time, and rumors even gained currency that there would be a wedding, but ihey lacked official confirmation and the young people said nothing. The friends had been brought to the belief that there was nothing in the rumor, and just at that point the young people ldecided to be married. The wedding was a .quiet one and took place at the home of the parents of the bride. Rev. L. M. Waterman performed the marriage cereoaony in Jthe presence of immediate relatives. The marriage license was taken out late so that no report of the intended naarrige could gain publicity.The groom is one of the most estimable young men of Alton. He is connected with the Citizens’ National bank. The bride has been one of the most popular young ladies in Upper Alton, and Alton whex-e. her winning ways have made for her many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Wempen will receive many congratulations when they return from their wedding trip. They will make their home in Alton.
