Mabel E. BeahanMabel E. Beahan, 93, of Clearfield passed away Dec. 17, 2003, at her home with the comfort of family members and caregivers.Born April 1, 1910, in Clearfield, she was the youngest daughter of Charles Edward Boal and Martha Ellen (Cleaver) Boal, who raised 12 children.On June 16, 1934, Mabel married Joseph Sheridan (Bud) Beahan Jr., who died Dec. 8, 1997. Bud and Mabel journeyed through life together with deep love and respect for each other, always setting an example of devotion for their family and friends.Along with her husband, she was the co-owner and operator of J.S. Beahan Company, a successful and well-known local business which specialized in the wholesale and retail sales of pet sifpplies.While her husband traveled recruiting sales and building arid maintaining strong business relationships, Mabel demonstrated her keen business abilities by totally managing the business’ daily operations.She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the American Association of Retired Persons. Mabel was also an active member of the Hobby Garden Club, where she exercised her passion for flowers and plants.She will be remembered for her love and concern for her family plus her many talents, from baking wondrous apple pies to creating beautiful objects in ceramics, oil and fabric.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and the following brothers and sisters: Orvis, Clark, Curt, Howard, Ai, Lelia Lawhead, ElizabethBaughman, Mary Jane Wilson, Sara Jury and Maude Hemphill.Mabel is survived by her children, Connie L. Smith and her husband, Dr. Keith Smith, of Houston, Texas, and Joseph S. Beahan III and his wife, Carol, of Clearfield; her grandchildren, Karen Dodd, Brian Smith, Valerie Yake, Amber Lipson and Erin McGary; and three stepgrand-children, Fred Burns, Gregory Burns and Dana Myers. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren andnine stepgreat-grandchiidren.Also Surviving is a brother, Lynn Boal and his wife, Amelia, of Clearfield.Visitation for family and friends will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield.Mass of Christian Burial will be said Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Clearfield with Monsignors H. Desmond McGee and Henry L.
