Miller of the Federation.HELP LOS ANGELESCommittee Is Appointed to JSee Party .Nominees This Fall.Talk of unionizing the miners of the Miasouri-Kaneaa-Oklahoma district received impetus yesterday afternoon at the session of the Joplin Trades assembly at 417 Mato street, when Guy E. Miller, of Denver, representing the Western Federation of Labor, epoke exhaustively on the work that must be done among the miner* of this district If It is hoped to make unionism popular. The miners' union of the district, which is said to have grown since Its organization a number of month* ago, was represented by several members who promised even more active sup-port then they have been giving previously. Mr. Miller said he believed It would be a question of only a short time before the district is thoroughly unionized, and that the laboring men would be materially benefited by the chang*.Many I n ion* RepresentedThe meeting yesterday, not only because of Mr. Miller’s presence, but because of the l,abor Iay discussion, was unusually well attended and much enthusiasm was manifested in the topics brought up for discussion. Representatives from the carpenters, the moulder*, the painter*, the cigar makers, th© miner*, the bricklayers, the machinist*, the printers, the barbers and the building labor union were present.An appeal for financial aid from i Los Angeles labor organizations was I received ami a donation made. It was also recommended that the various local unions make donations.To IHsrtlM Politics.The question of the attitude of the various township, county and congressional candidates toward organized labor was considered and after more than an hour of general discussion the following committee wa? appointed to investigate the sentiments of the candidates; F. O.Smith, of the machinists’ union, and W. C. Hauer, of the brewery workers. both Republicans; Thomas J. Sheridan and Jesse Shelby, both Democrats; F. E Payne and Ft. R. Rlstlne, both Socialists. The .committee Is to hold a meeting in the near future.Banquet for Visitors.Labor Day plans were exhaustively discussed. It was announced that a private dinner was to be served at the Connor hotel, beginning at 1 o'clock next Monday afternoon, the guests to consist of sixteen persons including Governor Herbert S. Hadley, James A. Reed, James A. Caples and H. J.
