William E. BloomHYDE - William E. Bloom, 72, of Lawrence Avenue, Hyde, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997, at Clearfield Hospital.Born Dec. 16, 1924, in Dysart, he was the son of the late William T. and Ada E. (Cleaver) Bloom.Mr. Bloom retired as a service manager from Clearfield Equipment Co. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.He was affiliated with The Presbyterian Church of Clearfield.Mr. Bloom was a member of Clearfield BPO Elks Lodge No. 540, Clearfield Lodge No. 314 Free and Accepted Masons, Curwensville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 842, John Lewis Shade Post No. 6 of the American Legion, Mosquito Creek Sportsmen’s Association and Old Town Sportsmen’s Association.He was an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 97, Clearfield; Curwensville Sons of Italy, Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. and Hyde Volunteer Fire Department.On May 3,1947, he wed Ruth L. (Blackburn) Bloom, who survives.In addition, he is survived by a daughter, Sharon Porter of Hyde; a son, Gary of Curwensville; five grandchildren, William G. Bloom, Lovie Anne Reem, Garrick L. Bloom, Christopher W. Porter and Jason J. Porter; and seven greatgrandchildren.Also surviving are four sisters, Olive Phillips of Williamsport, Charlotte Cowder of Johnstown, Frances McLaughlin of Clearfield and Gail Stevens of Carn-wath; and three brothers, Nevin of Glen Richey, Alvin of Olanta and Nelson of Clearfield.He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Hazel Passmore and Arlene Mrowczynski; and a brother, Walter.Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield, with Dr. Douglas S. Pride officiating.Interment will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.Friends will be received from3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until the hour of services tomorrow at the funeral home.Clearfield Lodge No, 314 FAM will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Presbyterian Church of Clearfield, 119 N. Second St., Clearfield, Pa. 16830.
