Whitaker, who tumbled from the water wago'n a/few days ago and then administered a drubbing to his wife, for which offense he is now doing time in the county jail, has been made the defendant in suit for divorce filed in the circuit court by Cora A. Whitaker.The couple married May 22, 1908, and separated July 26, 1910. The wife avers that the husband would frequently go on sprees; that he would call her vile names; that he would strike4. Iher with his nst ana threaten to kill her by chopping off her head with a butcher knife; that she was always in mortal fear that he would do her4.bodily harm; that defendant failed to provide and that plaintiff was obliged to work out. It is further alleged that Whitaker mortgaged their household goods and also pawned his wife's watch, and that he has failed to either pay off the mortgage or redeem the timepiece.Beside an absolute divorce Mrs. Whitaker asks that her maiden name, Cora A. Howell, be restored.
