Pepple of Michigan City, Clara \V. Ward hastbrought suit in the LaPorte circuit court for divorce from herhusband. !ra S. Ward, whom she married Oct. 11, 1SS9, and from whom she separated April 5, 1900. Cruelty and failure to provide are charged.The plaintiff was formerly Miss Clara DeWolfe, a Michigan City society girl, who became infatuated with Ward when he was a guard at the state prison. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. DeWolfe and the marriage was a society event, for the groom, though a prison guard, came from Mont ice] lo and was a brother of former Adjutant General Ward of Indianapolis. From all indications the young man never amounted to much. His father-in-law gave him a place in his hardware store, but he didn’t last there long. He made one trip to Nicaragua, where he worked for six months for a lumber company, but that soon became distasteful and he returned. He and his wife then located In Chicago, but some months ago she returned to her father’s home. Ward is around about hhlf of the time. He is believed to be in Mon-ticello now.Saw the Eclipse.
