Dowmt Appears Before the Senate Divorce Committee.Ottawa, April —Mrs. Downoy, formerly Caroline Jane Blackstock, appeared before the Senate divorce committee to day in support of her application for a divorce. Downey was at one time a merchant in whiskey. He married in 1876 and livedwith his wife till 1889. The usual grounds, that of desertion and adultery are the the grounds why tiio divorce :s arked for. Downey could not be found, although advertised ami searched for everywhere, to serve him with the usual notice. Mrs. Downey is a sister of G. T. Illackstock, the well known lawyer.The Senate committee reported to day in favor of giving Mrs. Downey, of Toronto, adivorce.
