EMMONS BREWERY— Built in 1856 by Louis Emmons on north side of Canal St. (Maple Avc.) between S. Sixth and S. Seventh Sts.It had a succession of owners and operators, including John A. Weigel; A. C. Stephenson Brothers, 1858-59; J. A. Henes, 1859-61; Reicllcl Co., 1861-66; and John Schelly, about 1870 to 1879.Reutli Mason leased the property, then known as the. Sehclly Malt House, in 1879 and increased its capacityfrom 100,000 bushels to150,000 bushels.In the same year the building was purchased by Charles Sohngen, George P. Sohngen and William B. Brown and named the Hamilton Malting Co.
