Allen county pioneer, died at I o’clock Sunday aft. ernoot at bis Adams township home, on the Wayne trace, six miles south* east of Fort Wayne, at the advancedago of 88 years and 2 months. 3jJr. Sehlaudroff was the father of Louis C. Schlaudroff, the Fort Wayne humane officer, and his death followed an illness of several weeks* duration. Though in frail health for some years owing to his advajwed age, Sir. Schlaudroff was able tp.be about until five weeks ago. It was'while attending a communion service at Emanuel Lutheran church in Marion township, of which he had long been a devoted member, that the aged man became suddenly ill. He ha$ to be assisted back to his seat and thence to his home, and from that time forward he declined steadily until the end came Sunday. Mr. SehlaudrofTs death was due to an affection of the kidneys, complicated with the infirmities attendant upon advanced age. ' *Mr. Schauldroff was bom in Koe» nagsberg, Hesse-Barmstadt, Germany, in 1817, grew to manhood there and in April, 1840, was united in marriage to Miss Marie Kraus-kopf. Five years later th^ey determined to seek a new home an America and on Christmas day, 1845, landed with their little family in Philadelphia after a voyage lt;Si sixty-nine days. $b«re had been an error in their sailing,-the company land* ing them in^ the latter city instead of at Baltimore, where they had intended to join relatives. When they reached Philadelphia two of their children, a little sonjpmd a daughter, were critically ill and both died within a few days. ■ Funds were running low, but the bereaved parents finally reached Baltimore, where they remained until the spring of 1846, and then came Vestward to Indiana, making the trip'by way of Indianapolis, Peru and the Wabash1 and Brie canal to this city, and locating
