SHOT IN THE LEGA Woman Causes Trouble at Highland, |South of ftere.Highland, a little hamlet six miles south of here, was the scene of a sensational shooting scrape last Saturday afternoon about 3 o’clock. The particulars as near as we could obtain them are as follows:Mrs. Zion Clark, who is divorcedfrom her husband and who lives with Frank Simpson and wife, sent her little girl four different times Saturday with an invitation to Tobe Nunder-backer, who is drilling for coal on the Burns land and who boards at Fred Lindsey’s, to come up to the house, that they wanted to see him. He finally accepted the invitation andwent up and Into Mrs. Clark’s part of the house. He had been there but a short time when Frank Simpson appeared on the scene with a revolver In his hand. He told Nundebacker that he would fill all dates he had made with his wife and attempted to shoot. Nundebacker defended himself and managed to get out of doors, where he got hold of some dornicks which he hurled at Simpson. Simpson replied by shooting at him three times, but did not touch him either time. Henry Smith, who resides just across the street appeared ou the scene with a double-barreled shot gun which he discharged. This scared Nundebacker so that he ran up the street when Simpson took another shot at him and this time the bullet took effect in the fleshy part of his leg. ProsecutorHheuby and atty. Charles W, Ward went down that evening but the case ( was continued until 9:30 o’clock next , Saturday morning. His bond was ' fixed at 9200 but be was not able to | give it and was brought up and put in j*ii. .Mrs. Simpson is a daughter of j Bruce Wiltermood of this township.
