Silver and Copper.Special dispatch to the Sentinel.Prairie dx? Cm ex, April 8.— While workmen were drilling a well on the farm of John Malady, in the town of Eastman, they struck a vein of mineral at a point about 30 feet below the surface. The stratum is about 4 feet through and the drilled particles resemble silver. The find will be subjected to an assay, and m case it proves valuable, capital will not be wanting to develop it to its fullest extent. The discovery of a vein of copper at Wauzeka has interested several experienced miners, and the developments thus far promise a profitable yield. The specimens unearthed are quite pure, and the ore compares favorably with that of the Lake Superior region.A. Eaton of this city, a practicle miner, is interested in the above mentioned copper mine in Crawford county. Specimens of the ore can be seen at his office. Mr. Eaton says that the copper mine is in the town of Eastman instead of Wauzeka, and is of the opinion that the mineral discovered on the farm of John Malady is copper ore. That the drilled particles resembling silver is “copper pyrites,” and that the find when developed will prove valuable.
