Emmets-Jburg Inst Saturday evening, after an absence of three months in Mi-soiiri, New Mexi.'O and other states ant! territories, lie had not been in town an hour when a warrant was issued hy Justice Dailey for hts arrest, upon information of Mrs. M. Daniels, ids divorced wife, stating in effect that she w.»s in danger of bodily injury at. the hands of the said Daniels. Mr. Daniels refused to execute a bond for his good behavior and demanded an examination. On Monday morning he took a change of venue, bringing the cast* before Justice Cummins. Geo. II. Carr and H. E. Kelly appeared for the state and C. E.Coboon for the defendant. During the progress of the examination, it wa* proved that Mr. Daniels had made no direct threat of violence at any time, and only upon one occasion haft he drawn a revolver, and then with the declared purpose of shnoting himself should his wife persist in her application for divorce. . This took place months ago. When the examination was completed the justice promptly discharged the prisoner.In Em met sburg where Mr. Daniels has resided for eighteen years, where he has held public office and as a business man has held commercial re!.v ti ms with our citizens for an extended period, he has always been considered a live, reliable roan. The domestic difficulties which have com» upon him of late have proved a severe blow to himself and children. Whether Mrs. Daniels was justified in obtaining ?,lt;1P voreedid not appear plain at the time of the decree, nor has subsequent developments changed public sentiment in her favor. We say this without malice toward either of the interested parties.
