Rising Tropical Storm Heading Toward JamaicaBecomes Full-Fledged Hurricane Again With100-MPH WindsMIAMI Oft—'The British island of Jamaica was advised to prepare for a hurricane today as the tropical storm in the Caribbean Sea gained a lQO-mile-an-hour kick.Grady Norton, chief storm fore* caster m the Miami Weather Bureau, reported the increasingly violent storm was moving along a path which should take it over or just south of Jamaica tonight.The forward pace of the whirling winds was 18 miles an hour to the west-northwest. This is a fast clip for a tropical hurricane, and Norton predicted it would slow down as it gained violence.Jamaica is a rich, mountainous island with great sugar cane fields, banana plantations and rum distilleries. The capital, Kingston, on the south coast, is a city of 120,000. The island is the largest of the•j British West Indies.
