Saturday in a head-oncollision on M-35 in Ford River near Bob’s Pit Stop, said StatePolice of the Gladstone Post.The women were passengers in a car driven by DeniseSayklly, 22, a local radio announcer, 3117 14th Ave S.,Escanaba. Miss Sayklly is listed in fair condition today at St.Francis Hospital.Driver of the other vehicle was Rene P. Lippens, 52,Mounted Route, Gladstone, who is reported in good conditionat the hospitalPolice said the Sayklly vehicle was headed North on M 35when it collided with the southbound Lippens vehicle. None ofthe people in the accident were wearing seat belts, saidpolice, who are continuing the investigation of the accident.The double fatality brings Delta County’s traffic death tollto 10 for the year, the same as last year at this time.Two other Upper Peninsula people were killed in weekendtraffic accidents.State police say at least 13 persons were killed in weekendtraffic accidents around Michigan, seven of those in morningcrashes in northern parts of the state.The victims ranged in age from 17 to 42, including a Michigan State University student and three Traverse Cityresidents.The MSU student. Kittle, 30, of White Cloud, killed in a head-on collision early Saturday in Lincoln Township of NewaygoCounty.— Joseph Hernandez, 29, of Detroit, an eight year veteran Detroit police officer Police said Hernandez, who was off duty, was killed while a passenger in a car involved in a two-car crash early Saturday on Detroit’s east side.— Gary A. Gipson, 32, of Bristol. Ind., killed Saturday night when his vehicle ran off a road and struck a tree in Saint Joseph County’s Sherman Township— Stanley Candiotti, 25, of Ypsilanti. Police said he died after the car he was driving struck the rear of a semi trailer Saturday morning on 1-94 in Washtenaw County's LymaTownship.— Robert Clark, 42, of Decker, killed Sunday afternoon when his car ran off the road and hit a tree in Novesta Townshm of Tuscola County.
