GOOD RIDDANCEA one-man crime wave ended Saturday morning when 23-year-old Bruce McLeod was shot ami killed while fleeing state police neat' Three Oak a,McLeod robbed a Detroit market, kidnapped four men at gipi-point and tried to fight it out with the officers .before two well-aimed bullets brought him down. Two of those abducted were deputy sheriffs.It was the unerring aim of Trooper Andrew Muth of.the New Buffalo post that put an end to McLeod's terrorism, and Muth is to be commended for his bravery.The records’show that McLeod has been a criminal since the age of 16, when he was sent to the Lansing vocational school for auto theft. Released from that institution, he went to stealing agajn and was arrested for auto theft, lie escaped from the.Howell jail. He was also said to be a prison parolee.Under the circumstances,. Trooper Muth had no choice hut to shoot this criminal who went through his short life violating and flaunting every principle of morality and -behavior.There will doubtless be a few persons, moved by misplaced and maudlin sentimentalism, who will feel badly over McLeod's death, They shouldn’t.
