Snook Pleads GuiltyTo Hiding TractorCharles Lee Snook of near Eldon was placed on parole in dis-| triet court today when he pleaded guilty to a charge of concealing mortgaged property with intent to defraud.Snook had been accused of hid- f mg his tractor last spring and reporting it stolen. He was charged with intending to defraud an in-j surance company. He admitted the charge. The tractor was recovered.Judge E. K. Daugherty heard! several character witnesses and also hoard testimony that Snook's wife is a polio patient. Expenses and concern of this disease, prompted Snook’s actions, the evidence showed.Judge Daugherty sentenced the farmer to a year in jail, and then suspended the sentence on good! behavior and paroled him to Robert Weidenbach of Eldon.Two others entered pleas of guilty to criminal charges in district court today.Thomas J. Foy, 35. oi Ottumwa, who had previously pleaded innocent, changed his plea to guilty to a drunken driving charge. He was! fined $300 and costs, and hist driver's license canceled. The court j set HO days as the time in which he could not apply for a new li-jcense. He had been arrested on East Main street June 25.Nick Jones of Moline, 111., pleaded guilty to drunken driving! and was also fined $300 He had been arrested June 28 on highway 34 east of Ottumwa.
