Details sketchy on shootingsThe shooting of two people early this morning in Perkins Township remains under investigation by township police.The victims, James S. Mantel, 24, 5006 Dallas Ave., and Mary’ Roberts, 34, of the same address, were each shot once while they were sleeping shortly before 4:30 this morning, Perkins Police Chief Stuart Heaberlin said. Both were transported by the Perkins squad to a hospital, wherethey were listed in fair condition.Heaberlin said the department received a call at at 4:18 a.m. reportingshots were being fired.Heaberlin said it appears a handgun was used in the shooting. Three slugs were recovered from the home next door at 5008 Dallas Ave., and one slug was found where the shooting took place.No other details were available.
