Woman’s Second TrapMdit\Helps Nab Purse ThiefHidit!ClAfter setting another trap for the man she suspected of having taken her purse containing $20 on July 18 Wanda Podgorski, .1217 Madison, succeeded in helping police catch the man.lie wasn't in the hands of the law, however, until after an auto chase and three shots were fired by police officers.On Sept. 10 Miss Podgorski set a trap for Ferdinand Zoch, 45. of 1456 Fletcher, machine operator. She asked Fillmore police to send a squad to her apartment to wait for Zoch with whom she had a date.Officers James Tealian and Hubert Maslihurn waited III the apartment. Zoch finally called Wanda to say lie was parked in his car across the street from her apartment. Teahan and Mashburn approached the car, but when Zoch I saw them he tried to run down Teahan. who fired a shot at Zoch's car as he drove off.Teahan and Mashburn. of course, were looking for Zoch since then. Saturday Miss Podgorski called them and said she arranged another dte with Zoch for 9 p.m. At 9:30 p.m. they saw her enter Zoch's car at Laramie and Madison and drive north.Al Laramie and Maypole he suspected the police wore following him and he stepped on the gas and drove down alleys. After a chase of several blocks he pulled to the curb in front of 221 N. Lockwood and fled on foot. Mashburn and Teahan fired several shots at him. although he escaped through backyards and gangways.loiter Zoch surrendered at Austin police s 1 a t i o ii .He was taken to Fillmore station and admitted taking Miss Podgorski’* purse and attempting to run down a man in Madison at I .at robe on Sept. 10. He was scheduled to ap-|war in Felony court Monday.Miss Podgorski said Zoch entered her apartment while she was away on her vacation last June.The story doesn't end there, however.James Murray, 228 N. Lockwood. suffered the consequences of the escapade Saturday.
