AHe wasn’t in the hands of the law. however, until after an auto chase and three shots were fired by police officers. of On Sept. 10 Miss Podgorski in set a trap for Ferdinand Zoch, dl 145, of 1456 Fletcher, machine nf operator. She asked Fillmore police to send a squad to her apartment to wait for Zoch with whom she had a date. I lt;Officers James Trahan and Hubert Mash burn waited In the apartment. Zoch finally called Wanda to aay he was parked In his car across the street from her apartment.Teahan and Mashburn approached the car, but when Zoch I saw them he tried to run down Teahan. who fired a shot at Zoch’s car as he drove off.Teahan and Mashburn. of course, were looking for Zoch i since then. Saturday Miss Podgorski called them and said she ; arranged another date with Zoch for 9 p.m. At 9:30 p.m. they saw her enter Zoch’s car at Laramie and Madison and drive north..At Laramie and Maypole he suspected the police were follow -! ing him and he stepped on the M gas and drove down alleys. Bi After a chase of several blocks j he pulled to the curb in front of se 224 N. Lockwood and fled on foot. Mashburn and Teahan fired several shots at him. although he escaped through backyards and gangways, loiter Zoch surrendered at Austin police station.He was taken to Fillmore station and admitted taking Miss Podgorskl’s purse and attempting to run down a man In Madison at Latrobe on Sept.10. He was scheduled to appear In Felony court Monday.Miss Podgorski said Zoch entered her apartment while she was away on her vacation last June.The story doesn't end there, however.James Murray, 228 N. Lockwood, suffered the consequences of the escapade Saturday.
