She asked Fillmore police to send a squad to her apartment to wait for Zoch with j | whom she had a date.Officers James Tcahan amiHubert Mash burn waited inthe apartment. Saturday Miss Podgorski called them and said she arranged another date withI Zoch for 9 p.m. At 9:30 p.m. they saw her enter Zoch’s car at i ; Laramie and Madison and drive north.At Laramie and Maypole he suspected the police were following him and he stepped on the gas and drove down alleys. After a chase of several blocks he pulled to the curb in front of224 N. Lockwood and fled on foot. Mashburn and Teahan fired several shots at him, although he escaped through backyards and gangways.Later Zoch surrendered at Austin police station. He was taken to Fillmore station and admitted taking Miss Podgorskl’s purse and attempting to run down a man in Madison at Latrobe on Sept.10. He was scheduled to appear in Felony court Monday.Miss Podgorski said Zoch entered her apartment while she was away on her vacation lastJ u ne.The story doesn’t end there, however.James Murray, 228 N. Lockwood, suffered the consequences of the escapade Saturday. He reported to police the front window' of his car was damaged by bullet holes.
