Give* Names Of Person* Who Wrote Letters In Adverse ExaminationIdentity of several persons writing letters and articles on the La Crosse theater situation for the Ho-kah Chief, weekly Minnesota publication. was revealed by Herbert E. Wheaton, editor, in an adverse examination in county court Saturday morning before Judge R. V. Ahlstrom.Wheaton Is being sued for alleged libel by the La Crosse Theaters company, which is being represent-eo in the adverse examination proceedings by Q. H. Hale and Lawrence J. Brodv. Mr. Wheaton is represented by Otto Bosshard.Questioned for nearly two hours bv the theater company attorneys. W’heaton continually denied that he had written any of the articles or litters concerning the theater situation appearing in his publication during the vepr.Names AuthorsHe said an article appearing in his paper on Aug. 5 and signed by (Penny Wise) was w*ritten by Russell (Buzz! Aldrioh of Onalaska. Another, Mgncd Gumshoe,” appearing in the July 25 issue, was \ ritten by L. R. (Doc) Finley, as was another signed E. Publico” in the same issue. Whcator stated.Aldrich wrote another article in ihe July 18 issue, he said, while a second sketch the witness said he believed was w ritten by Finley. \ Gordon Straub wrote an article! concerning the theater question in the July 18 issue. Wheaton stated. An article in the July 11 paper: Mgncd (John Henry) was written1 by Ldward F. Mumm, the editor] said. Clarence Endcr of Hokah wrote an article appearing in one of the papers, he said. jW’heaton said he could not re-' member where the copy of the let- j ter appearing in the April 25 edi-1 on was. and he said he did not know who had written it.
