The partially nude body of a woman was found by Department of Transportation employees just off of 1-40 near NewHope ChurchRoad Sept. 19 The woman was 5 feet 3 inches tall, 110 pounds, with strawberry blond hair. The body was clothed only in a bra,socks, a gold wire ring and bracelet, and a long-sleeve pink sweatshirt bearing a picture of two rabbits on bicycles and a third on a unicycle. The woman had been dead about a week Investigators have concluded the woman died as a result of foul play, but have not released the cause of death.Castle said they received a tip from someone who said they had heard truckers talking on citizens band radio about a girl fitting that description Sept 13. He said they found someone at the Archdale Truckstop, 2541Eric Lane, who remembered seeing the girl in the area and gave a description of her. Castle said she was last seen on the 1-85 southbound entrance ramp at N.C. 62. At the time the woman was wearing jeans and carrying an overnight bag.She is believed to have been hitchhiking and may have gotten into a white 18-wheeler.Anyone who remembers seeing the woman is asked to contact Lt.
