The 23-year-old sheriff claimed the shooting was in retaliation for his dampdown on the criminal element along the Tennessee-Mississippi border.“i’ve cost them a lot of money by dosing them but they’re still closed and they’re, going to stay closed,” Pusser declared, “I’m on the job every day and so are my deputies.”Pusser said the illegal whisky and gambling ‘'flourished for 10 or 15 years” in that area of the West Tennessee county.
