Jones, of 6510Lake Hoad was charged byMadison Twp. police for assaulting Patrolman John Goek-erell on July 28Reportedly, Gockerell had stopped the Jones’ vehicle for a faulty muffler when he was attacked by the motorist.A second charge of driving while intoxicated was reduced to reckless operation by requestof the Lake County prosecutor’s office.Jones was fined $50 on the reckless operation charge and was found guilty and fined for having an insufficient muffler.Nine of the 15-day jail sentence for assaulting an officer were suspended.
