Miss TillieI Klliott disciplined Virgil. and Allen I administered corporal punishment to I Harland Smith. 12.And while the teacher was whip-i | ing Harland. the hoy's father Ar-| dell Smith, allegedly entered the school and whipped the teacher.Today, while school directors and some others concerned in the sue-cess of the school tried hard to stay 1 what seemed a rising tide for a school j war. a warrant was served on Mr. Smith, in which Mr. Allen, the teacher. charged assault.At the same time. Deputy Sheriff; Joe Montgomery, who arrested Mr. , Smith, instructed Miss Klliott to appear here Saturday, a warrant having been sworn to for her arrest by Mr. : Smith. jLast night the Sand Kidge school j directors conferred with State's Attorney Fletcher Lewis here. Mr. Smith today was instructed to wait in Murphysboro for State's Attorney Lewis’ return from Du Quoin, as the prosecutor wished to confer with him.When interviewed Mr. Smith s'aid in part:Lessons assigned my hoy Virgil were too long. My wife and I he-lieve Miss Klliott became impatient with pupils because some of them did not get their lessons.
