Thlt;» Well Known Retired Shoe Manufacturer Luyn Down the Barden ofLife.George Hocker, the retired shoe manufacturer, died last last evening at his residence, on Wooaburn avenue, after a long illness. He was born September R, 1829, at Plantlunne Amt, Lingen, Hanover. He came to this country, via New Orleans, in 1848; went toDayton, O., thence to Mayaville, Ky., and finally settled permadent.y in this city. On the 4th of October, 1859. he married Miss Maria Linnenlugel, in Holy Trinity Church, Fifth street. She died December U, 1888. This union was blessed with seven children— George, Frank (deceased), Lillie, Add.e, Lulu, Edward ;and Alfred. For some years Mr. Hooker worshiped at St. Philomena Church, and for fourteen years he was connected with St. Ludwig's Church, and for the last ten years he had been an active member of St. Francis de Sales Church, Walnut Hills, where, as a member of the Church Wardens, he held the responsible office of Church Treasurer, for several years.He first opened a retail shoe store at Central avenue and Richmond; afterward he went into the manufacturing business on Pearl street; thence lie removed his factory and salesrooms to Main, near Seventh, where he remained in business until about a year ago,when he retired. » ; ... .
