Thompson, Eastabuehie storekeeper, as having attempted to shoot him last Saturday night, John Mosely, Mobile street negro, is held in city jail here today facing a Jones county assault with intent to kill warrant. ^He also faces serving a ten-day city sentence following conviction this morning on an assault charge growing out of an attack Sunday night 011 Tom Girdley, aged tamale vendor.Following identification of Mosely as having fired a shot at the Easia-buchie merchant, local police began an effort to connect hnn with theslugging early Sunday of .Benjamin F. Holt, aged watchman- . at the Phoenix Laundry, and the robbery of the laundry office register of i $25.81.According to deputy sheriffs and police, footprints lound in the rear of the laundry match in dimensionsMosely:s shoes and also are said to match prints left by Thompson’s assailant.Thompson came here this morning with H. G. Austin, Jones county deputy sheriff, and enlisted the aid of Deputy Stuart Coats of Forrest county in their search for Mosely. According to the Jones deputy questionings of negroes at Easta-bucliie had revealed Mosely as having been there Saturday night, and his description tallied with that of Thompson s assailant. They found him in the city court room where he wras being tried for the attack on the tamale vendor, and thompson identified him to the satisfaction of officers.According to Thompson, the negro entered his store Saturday night and made several purchases. He had a pistol in his shirt, the storekeeper said. Shortly after Thompson closed his store, and as he wras about to turn out the lights, he declared Mosely approached a window, demanding entrance to the store which w;as refused.
